Customs Regulations
Document required for the free importation of used household
goods or personal effects:
- The shipper produces his passport with a valid employment pass for a
minimum of one year.
- Alternatively, photocopy of application for employment pass form and the
acknowledgment card from the Immigration Department.
- Customer declaration to be signed by the shipper.
List of Prohibited Articles
- Narcotics
- Drugs
- Obscene, undesirable publications
- Clippings
- Films
- Weapons
- Guns
- Ammunition
List of Controlled Articles
- Video tapes and films must be screened by the Board of Film Censorship
which can be very costly, approximately $3.00 per 1/2 hour of viewing time
and is therefore discouraged.
- Certain types of stuffed animals, birds, and agricultural products which
require an import license.
Dutiable Items
- Alcohol and tobacco/cigarettes are dutiable items which should be
declared separately if shipped. A list stating the quantity, brand and size
of these items.
- Motorcycles and motorcars are subject to duty, registration fees, and
certificate of entitlement. The age of the vehicle must not be more than 3
years, thus this is discouraged.
Pets
- Pets may be imported into Singapore subject to quarantine space and
import license. There is a one month quarantine requirement and fees
payable.
